about

In 2009 I wrote a song about the end of the world - a nuclear holocaust scenario that had obsessed me since I was a child. At the time my buddy Rueben lived about five houses down from me on Geraldine Street in St Albans. We would often spend evenings together drinking gin and smoking. One night I played him the song (track 6 - Extermination) and we got to talking about the forgotten threat of nuclear annihilation. Soon Roob Dogg had written and recorded a verse for the song and the project was born. Dr Roob Dogg (actual PhD in physics) got a job at Berkeley National Labs in California towards the end of production of the A.A. album and drove off into the sunset one day at the end of '09 after recording the album's secret track. One song was outstanding and we planned to finish it via internet. But, life being what it is, we never got round to it. So in March 2013 I recorded the final song on my own and, with the help of my girlfriend (on a skit piece - track 4) finally finished the Apocalyptics Anonymous project.

This album is intended not as a blueprint for Armageddon, but as a stark reminder of the fragility of the world we live in, and the importance of appreciating the fact that - despite all the crap that we deal with from day to day - things could be a lot, lot worse.

Biggest thanks to my dear friend, collaborator and fellow apocalyptic - Dr Roob Dogg, without whom this album wouldn't exist. Huge thanks and love to our contributing producers John Doe, Nettsmoney, Repsac and Sammy Gallows. Special thanks to Rebecca for lightening the load, adding extra flavour and helping me get this finished after four years on the shelf.
